Our Pastor: Rev. Dr. Harry L. Seawright is a native of Swansea, South Carolina and Pastor of Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Brandywine, Maryland, where he has served at Union Bethel for the past twenty-six years. Rev. Seawright was called to preach in 1977; ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in the AME Church in 1979; and as an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church in 1981. Under Rev. Seawright's leadership and with God's anointing, Union Bethel has over 45 different ministries, a Greenhouse, Senior Outreach Center and is blessed to own 55 acres of land. We are also blessed to have a satellite church in Temple Hills, Maryland where Sunday worship services, Church School, Intercessory Prayer and Bible Study are held weekly. This satellite site features a Banquet Hall for conferences, weddings, receptions and special events. Our mission is to "Foster Intergenerational Relationships and Strengthen Communities."
Rev. Seawright has spent the past 35 years in ministry, specializing in community leadership and development. He is a Trustee Emeritus on the Board of Trustees for Prince George's Community College and President and CEO of HLS Consulting, Inc., a company that specializes in church construction, administration, management and finance.
Rev. Seawright is the author of More Than Bricks and Mortar: Building a Church Without Losing Your Mind, 1996. He is a contributing author in The African American Devotional Bible, Meditation on Quality Leadership, 1997. He is Treasurer for the Washington Conference and Second Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church and a member of the Collective Empowerment Group. Rev. Seawright is a member and past president of the A.M.E. Ministerial Alliance of Washington, D.C. He is the past President of Bethel House, Inc., a nonprofit outreach ministry organization.
He earned his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Benedict College, Columbia, S.C., a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Howard University School of Divinity. As a member of the graduating class of 1995, he was awarded the Doctor of Ministry "Student of the Year." In 1996, he received the Concerned Black Christian Men of Prince George's County Religious Award and in 1998 he was listed in Who's Who in the Northeast. Rev. Seawright has recently been listed in the 2005-2006 edition of the National Register of Who's Who as a leading Executives and Professional. He attended St. Antony's College, at the University of Oxford, Oxford England in August 2004, where his presentation on "Dynamics of the Church, Politics and Education" was well received by the Oxford Round Table of distinguished leaders from around the world.
He resides in Fort Washington, Maryland with his wife, the Reverend Sherita Moon Seawright and their two children; Shari Nicole and Harry Matthew and grandson, Cameron Isaiah.

Assistant Pastor: Rev. Sherita Gayle Moon Seawright was born in Clinton, South Carolina. She was educated in the public schools in Mountville, Cross Hill, and Clinton.
Rev. Sherita grew up in Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Clinton, SC, where she served as Sunday school teacher and musician. In 1982 she became a member of Prodigal African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Swansea, SC. She supported her husband in ministry as he served as Pastor of Payne Memorial AME Church, Jessup, Maryland, Hemingway Temple AME Church, Washington, DC. In 1986 she began her journey with him at Union Bethel AME Church, Brandywine.

Sherita earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, summa cum laude, from Benedict College, Columbia, SC, a Master of Arts degree in political science from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, and, a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, DC.
Reverend Sherita Seawright serves as Executive Director of Bethel House, Inc., a non-profit agency with the mission of providing holistic care and services to individuals and families by addressing spiritual, educational, physical, and mental health needs.
As an Itinerant Elder Rev. Sherita is also Assistant Pastor and Minister to Women at Union Bethel AME Church in Brandywine. She enjoys preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and empowering people for Christian service. She has a deep commitment to helping women reach the highest spiritual level that God desires. To this end, she works to help women, children, and families who face domestic violence and sexual abuse issues.
Rev. Sherita has received many awards, including: Storm Thurmond Foundation Award, Daniel Foundation Scholarship, Minority Master's Fellowship, Benjamin E. Mays Fellow, Ford Foundation Fellow, Howard University School of Divinity Dean's Award for Academic Excellence, and Congress of National Black Churches Fellow.
She is the author of When Momma Died-A Journey to Self. The book contains personal aspects of the author's grief process; yet it speaks to all readers, causing them to focus on the important realities of grief while inspiring them to make time for living a life of purpose.
Since February 27, 1982 Rev. Sherita has been married to the Reverend Dr. Harry L. Seawright. God continues to bless them to be the parents of two children: Shari Nicole and Harry Matthew and one grandson: Cameron Isaiah.
